Helping a family in need

Last week, we were able to bless a family in need in Lexington. A young couple just had a daughter who was born with a fused skull and had to undergo surgery, which required both of them to step away from their jobs for an extended amount of time. Thanks to our fasters and donors, we were able to provide for a month's worth of gift cards for food so they could focus on taking care of their daughter.

Meet Matt

Last Saturday (Sept 5, 2015), several students and community members helped Matt clean up his apartment and organize his things. Five Dollar Fast stepped in to buy lots of cleaning and organizational supplies. We also covered some of his groceries. Thanks for fasting!

Our hearts break for unmet needs.

That's why we allow our stomachs to growl.

Based out of Lexington, KY, Five Dollar Fast is a non-profit that welcomes lunch-eaters into a community of people that are insistent on taking action to provide for the unprovided.

The concept is simple: Skip lunch. Give the $5 you would have spent. Five Dollar Fast then represents all of us and helps a person or family within its reach.

I realized I couldn’t afford NOT to join five dollar fast. I care about helping people and my budget hasn’t changed at all. Really all I’m doing is allowing a small percentage of my grocery budget to sponsor a child overseas and I decide to pray when I’m hungry.
